Jennifer Kirby, best known as playing Nurse Valerie Dyer in the acclaimed BBC One show Call the Midwife, completed her first ever half marathon, in aid of Women and Children First.
The actress, who has been training and preparing for the race for months, joined 13,000 runners and other celebrities who took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for charity.
Jennifer, wearing her Women and Children First vest, was cheered on by thousands of spectators, including a team of staff and volunteers from the charity, in sunny and breezy conditions.
Jennifer finished the race, achieving a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 37 seconds.
What’s more, her family, friends and supporters have been very generous in their sponsorship. Jennifer has raised just short of £2,000!
Talking on social media, Jennifer said, “My legs feel like death, but I did it! There’s still lots of time to give money to this incredible charity.”

If Jennifer’s run has inspired you to take on a half marathon challenge of your own, Women and Children First still has limited spaces at this October’s Royal Parks Half Marathon. All team runners get great training and fundraising support, as well as their own Women and Children First vest, as worn by Jennifer!
