The brilliant Edinburgh Award winning stand-up comedian, actor and writer Bridget Christie is headlining a night of comedy in aid of Women and Children First, joined by her specially chosen funny friends.
Tickets are now on sale for ‘Bridget Christie and Comedy Friends’ at the Leicester Square Theatre on Monday 4th December 2023.
The Edinburgh Comedy Award, Rose d’or Award and Southbank Arts Award winner has been wowing audiences with her acclaimed stand-up. She is currently touring the country with her new show, ‘Who Am I?’, to sold-out audiences across the country. The Telegraph has described her stand-up as “razor-sharp and consistently hilarious”.
Bridget has won fans with her appearances on Taskmaster, and her new, much-loved Channel 4 comedy drama, The Change. The Evening Standard described the show as, “Cutting both in its humour and its astute social commentary, it is also immensely warm… come for the menopause – stay for the druids.”
In 2016, Bridget recorded her debut stand-up special, ‘Stand Up for Her (Live from Hoxton Hall)’ for Netflix in 2017, making her the first British female stand-up on the platform. She’s also headlined the Leeds and Reading festivals, as well as Deer Shed and Latitude.
Her BBC Radio 4 series ‘Bridget Christie Minds the Gap’, ‘Utopia’ and ‘Mortal’ have won awards and fans around the world, including Jon Ronson, who says, "Bridget Christie is just so exceptionally funny and inventive. She is just so constantly unique!"
Her book, A Book for Her, also received universal critical acclaim and was nominated for a Chortle Award.
Among the special guests that Bridget has invited to be part of the show are the Australian comedian and actor Felicity Ward, as seen on Live at the Apollo and soon to be starring in the Australian reboot of The Office for Prime Video. “Ward is a high-energy, animated, endearing stand-up” says ‘The Guardian’.
Also taking part is upcoming French comedian Celya AB, who’s been seen on Comedy Central Live, heard on The Guilty Feminist podcast and received the Chortle Best Newcomer award in 2022. Celya is known for her “dry, whimsical humour… a high status-performer” according to ‘Funny Women’.
More guest names are to be announced.
‘Bridget Christie and Comedy Friends’ is in aid of Women and Children First. Every 2 minutes a mother dies in pregnancy and childbirth.
The charity sets up community health groups in the world’s most rural, remote areas, enabling mothers and their babies to survive and thrive.
Through empowering strong women leaders to run these groups, they can halve maternal mortality. It is life-changing, life-saving work.
Every £5 raised from can help support a woman to attend their local community health group for a year.
Speaking about the show Bridget Christie says, “I can’t wait to share the stage with some of the best comic minds out there who I am proud to be able to call my friends! And all for such a worthwhile cause.”
Beth Silver, Chief Executive of Women and Children First, states, “The team are ecstatic that Bridget Christie is taking part to help women and children survive and thrive in some of the most rural, remote communities.
“The line-up she is putting together looks fantastic and is championing some excellent, hilarious comedians.
“Our life-changing, life-saving work, empowering women to address critical health problems, is only possible thanks to the kindness of our supporters and the public.
“Please come and join us for a night of great entertainment and raucous laughter. It could make for a great Christmas party or festive get-together with friends and colleagues.”
