The pupils at Rainham Village Primary School and Nursery have taken part in the Mini London Marathon. Through their running, sponsorship and donations, the children have raised an incredible £2,260.79 in support of the work of Women and Children First.
The students were inspired to run as their teacher, Mr Sears, took part in the London Marathon, running and fundraising for Women and Children First. They ran 2.6 miles in their run in October, collecting sponsorship from parents and family friends.
Mr Sears says, “Thank you for your donations, it will go a long way in supporting a small charity.
“I’m overwhelmed by your generosity, in supporting your children to help my fundraising effort.
“All of the children showed resilience, determination and perseverance in completing 2.6 miles. You should all be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”
Mark Mina, Head of Fundraising and Communications adds, “Thanks to the pupils, parents and Mr Sears for your outstanding support. You’ve raised an amazing amount of money.
“Your donations will enable us to help more women and children to survive and thrive in some of the world’s most rural and poorest communities.
“Your support will enable us to help more women, children and groups. It is life-changing, life-saving and sustainable too. It’s also particularly important to support smaller charities and good causes like ours.”
