The sensational Sophie Duker, the current Taskmaster Champion, as seen on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order and Live at the Apollo, is joining the Cracking Comedy in aid of Women and Children First line up at the Leicester Square Theatre on Monday 5th December.
Sophie will be headlining an amazing line-up also including Rosie Jones, Iain Stirling, Mark Watson and more brilliant comedians as seen on TV.
Everyone who buys a ticket to the Christmas comedy show will help raise money for Women and Children First, an organisation that helps women, children, mothers and their babies to survive and thrive in some of the world’s most rural, remote communities.
The show will also be livestreaming through stand-up comedy service NextUp and will also be available on demand for up to one week. NextUp will also donate the first payment of any new annual subscription (minus processing fees) to Women and Children First, as the evening aims to raise vital funds in support of the charity’s work with women and girls.
Among the headliners is Rosie Jones. She has quickly become a must-see act on the UK comedy circuit, having starred on hit shows such as ‘The Last Leg’, ‘Cats Does Countdown’ and travelogue series ‘Trip Hazard’. She’s also completed two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
BAFTA-winning comedian Iain Stirling is best known as the brilliantly funny voice of hit show Love Island. He’s been on Taskmaster and hosted CelebAbility. His sitcom, Buffering, written, created by and starring Iain debuted on ITV2 in 2021. He has just finished filming the second series, due on air in 2023.
Also taking part in the evening is Edinburgh Festival award winner and Time Out Critic’s Choice award winner, Mark Watson. His recent TV credits include ‘QI’, ‘Taskmaster’ and ‘Bear Grylls’ Celebrity Island’.
Joining them are renowned comedians Paul Sinha, whose ‘One Sinha Lifetime’ show was one of the best reviewed at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe (British Comedy Guide), and Chloe Petts, who’s becoming one of the most exciting new acts on the circuit.
‘Arab Essex girl’ Esther Manito and Ria Lina, the only Filipina comedian in British stand up, will also perform, having both wowed audiences on ‘Live at the Apollo’.
Rising star Katie Green, a Funny Women 2020 Finalist, will also take part. Vix Leyton, host of ‘The Comedy Arcade’ podcast will MC, making a name for herself as the Welsh princess of petty.
Rosie Jones says, "I’m really looking forward to performing at the Christmas Cracking Comedy charity Show. It’s for such an excellent cause and the lineup is truly brilliant. I can’t wait!"
Comedian Mark Watson says, “I became aware of Women and Children First as a result of the fundraising gig earlier this year, and more or less demanded to be in this one.
“It's easy to overlook causes like this in a world where some charities have enormous muscle and it's a privilege to be able to use comedy to help out. I'm excited to be part of a genuinely outstanding lineup.”
Vix Leyton says, “I’m delighted to be back guiding the audience through an unbelievable line up of comedy talent. It is a real privilege to be a small part of the amazing work that Women and Children First are doing around the world. They provide the tools rural communities need to build a better, safer future for parents, babies and children."
“I’m really happy that once again NextUp are supporting us to bring such a fantastic show to comedy fans who can't be in the room. It's my job to make them feel as close to the action as possible and I am looking forward to another magical evening of comedy for a fantastic, deserving cause."
Mikey Rosato, Chief Executive of Women and Children First, said, “This is such an exciting line-up, featuring several hilarious comedians. Thanks to them all for their support. Come and join us for an evening of great comedy, and help us empower the world’s most rural, remote communities to survive and thrive. You can help us change lives.”
